St. Thomas College of Teacher Education Mylacompu (STCM), owes its existence to God through the farsighted vision of His Excellency Mar George Punnakottil, Bishop Emeritus (1977 -2013) and late Rev. Fr. Joseph Puthenkulam and Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kodakallil former secretaries of the Corporate Educational Agency, Diocese of Kothamangalam. His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. George Madathikandathil (Bishop, Eparchy of Kothamanglam) from 2013, adhering to the needs of the society by fostering the capabilities and potentialities of teacher trainees. The college is situated in the semi-rural area at Mylacompu near Thodupuzha in Kerala, catering to the needs of teacher trainees from diverse parts of the State. The college is owned by the Catholic Diocese of Kothamangalam and managed by Diocesan Corporate Educational Trust. STCM was established in the year 2005 as a self-financing institution affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) F.KL/SEC/N/328/SRO/NCTE/2004-2005/764dtd.23.02.2005. The college started functioning on 20th July 2005 with 100 students on the rolls for B. Ed Degree Course. Permission to start M. Ed Degree Course was received on 05-01-2006 and the affiliation on 07th January 2008. NCTE granted permission to start M.Ed course on 15th February 2008. Classes began for the first batch of 25 M.Ed students on 25th February 2008. St. Thomas College of Teacher Education has been declared as a Minority Educational Institution on 13th September 2011, covered under section 2(g) of National Commission for Minority Educational Institution Act 2004.

Location and Environment
The college Located at Mylacompu, a picturesque land-scape surrounded by lush green fields, 1.5 kilometer away from Ernakulam – Thodupuzha state high -way and 5 Km away from Thodupuzha town. It is believed that St. Thomas, one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus Christ visited the place where the college is located. This beautiful village atmosphere is conductive and helpful to learn and research.
